An oil furnace

I can hear the death knell.  The grim reaper is on the way.  It’s inevitable because no a single here gets out alive.  This time, death has come for our heating and A/C unit. I mean it’s truly a bit overdue if the truth be told.  I’ve had the same furnace and A/C unit for the last 17 years. Plus, our excellent heating and air conditioning repair woman warned myself and my wife this moment was coming several years ago.  I’m particularly thankful she did–my wife and I were able to start saving for a replacement. Well, the time is nigh. The central A/C is now running nearly all the time. It just can’t keep up with the height of summer.  I know this for sure because the utility bill is off the charts. I’m certain the power bill is more than double what it was just three years ago. The other morning, as I was mowing the grass, I kept seeing something out of the corner of our eye.  I kept trying to catch the thing that was moving, although I couldn’t see it. Then, I sure did see what was moving; it was the heating and A/C compressor unit. The thing was not only shaking but, it was actually sort of jumping a bit as well. This cannot be a great sign.  I assume the final straw may have come this weekend. The A/C kicked on in addition to tripped the breaker at the fuse box. It was not just an easy trip either. There was plenty of arcing–I could smell the ozone odor when I went to reset the breaker. So, I made the call this morning.  I contacted the heating and A/C contractor in addition to had them order the up-to-date oil furnace and A/C unit I had picked out. It will be installed within the next few weeks. I sure hope our old furnace and A/C unit can hold out that long.
