When we bought our first house, I didn’t know much about home repair. I could barely change our own tire at that time. During the first year, I l studied how to change the plumbing fixtures, install carpet as well as repair a leaky faucet. It was a lot of work and I managed well by using the internet to watch hundreds of useful videos. I found hundreds of DIY videos to help myself learn how to manage the minor repairs. When I had problems with the a/c, the videos on the internet had a few easy troubleshooting tips. I cleaned the debris from the outdoor compressor, and I made sure the evaporator drain was clear. Nothing seemed to fix the air conditioning. My Dad told me to call a professional to fix the air conditioner. The a/c repair company wanted 89.00 to come to the house just to determine the issue. That’s a good deal of money to spend for an evaluation however I was left with no other choices. I called the a/c repair company as soon as I could to book an appointment. The next day, they came out to diagnose our system. I was surprised to find they performed some of the same troubleshooting steps I did. The a/c repair serviceman said I needed to replace kick switch. I didn’t know what that was because it was part of the outdoor HVAC unit. It took an hour to complete the a/c repair and it worked. By the time the HVAC serviceman left, the a/c was cooling the house. I wouldn’t have been able to repair the issue, so I’m happy I decided to call in a professional.
